‘Party and then taxi home’ - Grey Cup advice from MADD Canada
Canadians can get home safely and help raise up to $20,000 to support MADD Canada by calling #TAXI to get safely home
November 21, 2007 - When you plan your Grey Cup party for the weekend, be sure to plan your transportation home or better yet to and from celebrations. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada) wants all Cup revelers to call a taxi or make other safe travel plans if they are drinking.
Carolyn Swinson, MADD Canada’s National Chairperson and MADD Toronto Chapter member, says,” Let’s all celebrate the Grey Cup weekend, and let’s all ensure we plan ahead so that there is no impaired driving. Party and then taking a taxi home is one great way to do this.”
“Plan to take a taxi. Or, if you find yourself impaired at the end of the night and have not planned for a drive home, you can call #TAXI on your mobile phone, avoid busy signals and get a cab recommended if you don’t know who to call.
Mrs. Swinson adds, “There is no excuse to drive impaired, especially when anywhere, anytime, you can hail a taxi by simply calling #TAXI.”
By calling #TAXI (#8-2-9-4) on any cellphone -- in Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina or anywhere in Canada -- a person can get the first available taxi.
#TAXI, a product of CellWand communications Inc., is a major supporter of MADD Canada including the Title Sponsorship of Campaign 911, a campaign that was created to inform Canadians to call 911 to report suspected impaired drivers.
To support MADD Canada even further, #TAXI is donating a portion of the $1.25 carrier charge (less then 411) from each new caller’s first call to help generate additional funding for Campaign 911 to a maximum of $20,000 starting Grey Cup weekend right until January 2, 2008.
Mrs. Swinson says, “When you get home safely with #TAXI, you are supporting MADD Canada's efforts to reduce impaired driving tragedies in our communities at the same time.”
